The ocean also provides wonderful opportunities for whale watching during certain times of year when these majestic creatures migrate through Rhode Island waters on their way up and down the coast. These beaches offer great opportunities for swimming, surfing, fishing or simply taking in the breathtaking views from oceanfront cliffs. The Atlantic Ocean borders Little Compton to the south with miles of stunning coastline featuring beautiful beaches such as Goosewing Beach or Easton’s Beach. Westport also hosts numerous community events throughout the year including their annual 4th of July fireworks show at Horseneck Beach State Reservation. It has a historic downtown area that features many shops and restaurants as well as several beaches along its shores that offer great views and opportunities for swimming, surfing, or boating activities. Westport is a larger town located just east of Little Compton with a population of around 28,000 people. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking or fishing in one of Tiverton’s many coves or take part in community events such as their annual Tiverton Festival. It is known for its historic downtown area which features many quaint shops and restaurants as well as its scenic harbor area which offers great views of Mount Hope Bay. Tiverton is a small town located just north of Little Compton with a population of about 16,000 people. Little Compton is home to approximately 3,500 people and is known for its rural charm and picturesque coastline. The town borders Tiverton, Massachusetts to the north and west, Westport, Massachusetts to the east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south.
